How To Increase Traffic To Your Blog

Your blog can have a huge impact on your business by attracting traffic to your website and other platforms, but growing that readership for your blog can be a frustrating enterprise. It takes work to build your audience, of course, but you can work at this “smarter, not harder” and we can show you how. Here are some tips on how to increase traffic to your blog:

Write. Then Write Some More.

Studies have shown that as you update your blog more often you will receive more traffic. Google always gives a higher priority to websites with fresh content, so if you want to grab the attention of the search engines, you should update your blog at least once a week.

Your Social Media

Share every new blog post on all your social media platforms: Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest. Your social media sites will become some of your top traffic sources if you spend time cultivating your content and engagement here.

Titles That Grab Ya

Your blog post titles are going to be more important than the actual content. Well, almost. A title helps a potential reader decide whether they want to take the time to read what you have to say. Take a look at magazine covers, for example. They attempt to entice readers with promises, secrets, and solutions. If you follow this recipe, your readership will increase.

What’s Your Niche?

You may be a well-rounded person, with interests that are wide and varied, but when it comes to your business blog you will only confuse your audience if your content doesn’t follow a clear theme path. Determine who your audience is, what they want to read, and what your message to them should be, and go from there.

Image Is Everything.

Photos in blog posts boost readership – a photo will make your post more appealing by adding a visual element, and you can also add keywords in the Alt Image tag on that photo, which boosts SEO. Make sure you are using photos that do not violate copyright laws by using royalty-free images from sites set up for this purpose, like Pixabay

Keywords Make The Dream Work. (Sorry.)

Keywords are the heart of SEO. Ensuring that every page on your site has a keyword strategy will generate more traffic to your website. Choose one key phrase you think your readers might use to find the post, and then incorporate that phrase into the title, headline, within the content (at least two times), and as part of the page link. You can also feature an image on the page that is aligned with or contains the key phrase.
