Piccolo Marketing To Join Academies of Nashville Partnership Council

March 9, 2021 – Nashville, Tenn. Piccolo Marketing of Nashville has accepted an invitation to join the Academies of Nashville Partnership Council, which was founded to provide district-wide perspectives of industry and assist in providing quality learning experiences and resources for Metro Nashville area students.

The Academies of Nashville is known as one of the best college and career preparation experiences in the nation and has been recognized by the White House as a national high school transformation model. All-Metro Nashville Public School (MNPS) students have a choice of 39 different academies within the 12 neighborhood high schools, which offer a practical, hands-on approach to learning in fields that interest students, from engineering to healthcare. More than 350 business community partners are involved in this endeavor.

While enrolled in their chosen academy, students can complete their choice of advanced academic classes, honors, and global arts and music courses. Every pathway within the 39 academies offers pathway dual credit and often an industry certification, as well. In addition to the academy pathway courses, students can earn early post-secondary opportunities through Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Cambridge, or Dual Enrollment through their general education courses.

Area students participate in various events that support their intellectual and personal development during each stage of their educational journey:

Career Exploration Fair: Freshmen have the opportunity to talk to industry professionals from more than 400 different career areas and attend at least one college visit. In Freshman Academy, students receive classes through a core team of teachers who share students to provide support for student achievement.

Industry Fields Trips: Sophomore students attend industry field trips to confirm or reevaluate academy choices through real-world experiences.

Job Shadowing: Junior students gain insight into the daily realities of their professions of interest. Students complete a one-day job shadowing experience during which they observe professionals in a career area related to their academy.

Internships: Senior-level students participate in hands-on experiences in which they can see the importance of their studies first-hand and form valuable connections with industry professionals.

In support of these objectives, each Partnership Council is composed of volunteer business leaders and MNPS educators who meet quarterly to identify and match Academy needs with community and district resources. The Academies of Nashville Partnership Councils are in the following industry areas: Arts, Media & Communications, Business, Marketing & Information Technology, Engineering, Manufacturing & Industrial Technology, Health & Public Services, Hospitality & Tourism, Freshman Academy, and Student Voice.

Key community partners of the Academies of Nashville include the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, the PENCIL Foundation, Alignment Nashville, and Ford Next Generation Learning.

The stated mission of the Partnership Councils is to create, evaluate, and maintain a framework for sustainable business, industry, and community partnerships with The Academies of Nashville, fostering relevance through productive relationships that improve school attendance, graduation rates, and to support the development of a college and career-ready graduate.

The Piccolo Marketing team is excited to be a part of supporting and encouraging the development of Nashville’s future leaders through their involvement with the Academies of Nashville Partnership Council going forward. One of Piccolo’s ongoing objectives has been to mentor and support college-age interns each year in order to help strengthen and support the business community in the Nashville area, so being involved with the Partnership Council is a natural extension of that.
