There is no doubt it takes time and effort to develop and build brand awareness. But, are you tackling this component of business development effectively and efficiently?
Check out the 4 Cs below and consider if your own strategy is on the right track…
Consistency
Did you know that someone has to hear/see/read your message seven times before they take action? While seven may not actually be the number, the real point is that building awareness takes time, repetition, and a multi-channeled approach.
Tools such as Hootsuite and MailChimp can help you automate your social media and email marketing campaigns, respectively; saving you both time and money!
Channels
Speaking of channels, it’s important to be very intentional about the social media and marketing platforms you choose to employ. Consider two things:
- Where are your potential customers likely to be?
What are your customers looking for? Consider where your efforts have both paid off and failed to deliver in the past. Don’t forget about strategies such as email or snail mail campaigns, blogs, or monthly newsletters. [Remember – it takes variety and repetition to reach people 🙂 ]
- What platforms make the most sense for my content?
While the classic Facebook and twitter pages are good for pretty much everyone – what about your services or content sets you apart? If your content is image or video driven, then Instagram and YouTube are a good place to start. If you advertise a lot of DIY, infographics, or helpful tips and tricks, consider Pinterest. There are so many options, it’s important to analyze which ones are the best fit for your individual needs.
Content
Don’t forget to be consistent (both in your delivery and message) and to tailor your message to the platform you are using. Most importantly, your content should convey to your current or potential customers WHY you are a trusted professional and HOW you can help them. If you can achieve and follow through on these two things, you will be well on your way!
Creativity
Just like you are following the rule of 7s… so is everyone else! Work to find that balance between informational and eye-catching. Stay up on the latest marketing trends and don’t be afraid to have a little fun!
